The Written Word Series really started with an idea, as all stories do. The idea was "What if magic could come from words? What would happen then?" I knew the story would be set around Halloween. After all, what time of year is more dark and magical than October 31st? I had gotten this idea after talking to a writing friend where I described the act of writing as a kind of magic. Think about it; it really is a kind of magic. You sit down in front of a blank sheet of paper or your computer and you create something out of words. You create a world for people to live in, characters for people to fall in love with, battles to be lost and won. If that's not magic, I don't know what is. Originally, The Written Word Series was going to be a trilogy. But the story itself was a little larger, a little bigger in scope, than I had planned. It seemed to be writing itself. I think, in the end, the series will consist of seven books. Or maybe more. As long as there are tales in The Written Word Series to tell, I'm going to keep writing. For writing is magic in it's purest form...
